The Civil Discourse Project is a non-profit technology initiative designed to lower the temperature of our political discourse. In our experience, it is not possible to solve a problem without first being able to measure it. The Civil Discourse Project is taking a data-driven approach to flag divisive rhetoric.

We are stringently non-partisan. Our ratings are unaffected by whether a candidate is conservative or progressive, extremist or moderate. They are impacted solely by the language used, not ideology or policy positions.
